Happy New Year and a 2022 Recap

Happy New Year! We are so grateful to have such a strong support group and so many wonderful guests that have visited us this year and past. We love sharing this beautiful storied house with you all and cannot wait to see what this new year brings to the Inn, Prince Edward County, and to all of you.

Welcome to Waupoos

Some of our best moments this year were new experiences for us. But we also got spoiled with some of our old favorites. Prince Edward County never seems to disappoint. This year was a first to visit Walt’s Sugar Shack we highly recommend coming for a visit during the maple syrup season, so many sweet things are happening. We did a lot of exploring outdoors and another first was a trip to remnants of the historic Lakeshore Lodge that is in Sandbanks Provincial Park we have been back several times since to walk the trails. We also introduced our guests to our new weirdo puppy Lambert. Now a year older he is just as weird but probably the sweetest lil man ever and he has the biggest greeting.

Sunsets, sunflowers and smores, now that is a theme we can get behind. The County is known for its amazing sunsets and there a few places we would highly recommend making a detour to immerse yourselves in natures light show, The Miller House at Lake on the Mountain, Slake Brewing and Sandbanks Provincial Park. Don’t want to travel to far from the Inn the picture below was taken just behind the house. Keep an eye out (I hate to presume its more of a hope) for sunflower time! Sunnydale farm which is less then five minutes from the inn has been graciously opening their fields to the public, and they even go the extra mile by including some awesome photo op props like old fashioned tractors and stock tanks so keep an eye out on their instagram page for dates and details because it changes every year. A new feature to the inn is a large fire pit area, which has been occupied nightly; smores have been made, a couple guitars have been played but the laughter is what has warmed our hearts the most. If you want to enjoy a nice peaceful night by the fire roasting marshmallows let us know and we will get it all set up for you.

We love The County for its abundance of culture, food and entertainment, it really has something for everyone. We danced at The Hayloft, wandered the Picton Market, laughed at a comedy festival and partied at a concert. And to say we ate our way through the year would be an understatement. All local all the time, Cressy Mustard and Eatery is still one of our favourite places to visit, a lot of the time there will be live entertainment, great food and of course the famous locally made Cressy Mustard. Stella’s Eatery is a short walk from the Inn and we highly recommend their frequently changing menu. Pop ups are constantly happening, we are truly kept on our toes anticipating our next bite.

We cannot wait to see what 2023 brings! We will be putting together our bucket list for the year shortly and we will share with you all. Cheers to the New Year!
